Highest Amongst Young Women
Bulimia is the highest among young woman between the ages of 12 to 25 years who happen to live within the Western society - where ‘dieting’ is very common.

Statistics on bulimia and diets

Research discovered in one study that 44% of middle school girls who frequently read articles about dieting are twice as likely to try fasting and dieting and where three times more likely to try self induced vomiting than girls who did not read  the articles.

Research also shows that people who diet frequently are five times more likely to develop an eating disorder then those who don’t diet, however those who dieted all the time are eighteen times more likely to develop an eating disorder than those who did not diet.

The same study also showed that children are more likely to develop an eating disorder if they have a sister or mother who diets.

It has also been scientifically proven that students who entered the USA from another culture are more likely to suffer bulimia if they absorb western ways on diet and beauty.

It is also very interesting that girls who diet frequently are twelve times more likely to binge than girls who don't diet. 

How people have bulimia?

Current research suggests that about 4% (or four out of every hundred) of woman have bulimia. Because people suffering from bulimia tend to be secretive it can be difficult to know the exact figure.
