Experiences with Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) ??

Hello my fellow recovery buddies ;) Today I was offered IPT at the ED clinic and was wondering if anyone has any experiences with it.? Has it helped? Is CBT a better choice? Anna

Hey, I hvnt had experience

Hey, I hvnt had experience but my mum is a psychotherapist and I asked her about it early :) she doesn't know why (she has no idea about my ED) so I feel it was impartial advice :)

Are you being offered it for depression or to tackle your eating disorder? Mum says it was originally used for depression with good results and since has been used more widely for ED. She doesn't know why I was asking but says its an effective method to deal with ED and is becoming more popular.

If I was you I'd give it a go :) got nothing to lose?! And if you don't like it there is always the option to switch to CBT instead?

Hey! ah that is really

Hey! ah that is really awesome that you asked your mom about it. I will definitely be giving it a shot. As you say, what do I have to lose? It will be used specifically for the ED as far as I have understood as that is why I was there in the first place. Gosh, I really hope it helps. they also offered me fluoxetin but I really dont want to go there just yet. AND I probably can switch to CBT if needed.

Thank you so much for asking about it! :) I really appreciate it. X Anna
