Protecting Your Safety

Your safety is important to us. Please keep the following in mind when you're online:

1. Keep private information private.
Always use caution and common sense when interacting with people online. Never post any personal or contact information online including your phone number, your first and last name, any passwords, your email address, your social security number, bank or credit card numbers, or the name of your company. Please don't ask others for this information either.

2. Make sure your screen name and Bulimiahelp.org profile don't include personally identifiable information.

3. Be careful about the pictures you post online. And never post pictures of your friends and family without getting their permission first.

4. Protect yourself from online scams.
"If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is," is a saying that's been around for a long time for a reason. Always beware of anyone asking for money. No matter how sad a story they may be telling, never share your bank or credit card information with them.

5. Don't forget that your Bulimiahelp.org, the Bulimiahelp.org online community and Bulimiahelp.org blog are public spaces. Never post anything you wouldn't want the world to know (e.g., your phone number, address, or specific whereabouts). Avoid posting anything that would make it easy for a stranger to find you, such as places you go to frequently. Always use caution when agreeing to meet people face-to-face who you've only interacted with online.

6. Harassment, hate speech, and inappropriate content should be reported to us immediately. If you see any content on the Bulimiahelp.org Web site that you feel is inappropriate, report it by clicking the "Report Abuse" link. If you have any concerns about how anyone is behaving towards you on Bulimiahelp.org or if you're concerned about any behavior you're witnessing on the site, please contact us immediately at support@bulimimahelp.org.

What our members say...

"Thanks for everything you are doing. I really appreciate the help you provide and without it I wouldn't be able to continue."

Rose, Scotland

"I could never fathom the fact that 1 in 7 college-aged females were bulimic, yet I'd never met anyone who talked about their experience and the internet had an array of depersonalised information. Nothing useful. Nothing that made you feel you weren't alone or that there was hope. Finding the forum and advice at BulimiaHelp.org was the first time I could connect with other people who were experiencing life just as I was. I logged on everyday and started to learn about the illness, but most importantly to learn that there was hope. I can credit a lot of my improvements to the community and information at this site."
