How to get regular bowel movs?

Hello!

This is a very discussed topic i know, at the beginning constipation was terrible and thanks God that´s finished. Still i feel my system is not regular yet, i still don´t go every day to the bathroom. I know it will take time but i wanted to get a quick reminder of what is working for you. Please give us your tip!

On my first weeks i used lemon with warm water first thing in the morning and again before bed, i think it did help. I tried an Asian tea for digestion that worked pretty good but i realized it was hard and i didn´t feel it nice to my body, i could see it like a laxative or a way of purging so i quit.

Now things are much better but still... Im having a warm drink with empty stomach, first thing in the morning. Sometimes its apple cyder vinegar with water, sometimes lemon water, sometimes flax seeds soaked all night in water and then i drink the water and the seeds.

At night i have an infusion of fennel seeds or a mild¨digestion herbal tea¨.

I eat nuts and olive oil every day for the good fats on them, i eat plain greek yogurt and fiber crackers. Salad and fruit. Whole grain bread and grains as often as i can. Oats and dark chocolate every day...

I´ve read about probiotics but i don´t want to spend more money in supplements and they are very expensive here so i try to eat them naturally.

Do you have any tip that is helping?

Thanks and happy week for you!

Eat whole, healthy foods,

Eat whole, healthy foods, lots of water and fruit/veg.

Then again we're all different, my stomach is so emotionally affected as well, as soon as I don't sleep well or have any kind of stress my stomach doesn't work.
Also ED has affected it in a way that I now have to take two natural powders for my BM's to function.

One is a salt-solution that you mix into half an glass of water, and one is a bulking powder similar to psyllium seeds. (Lots of water needed with both of these)

Hope you find something that works for you :-)

Hi , For me when I eat foods

Hi ,

For me when I eat foods with a lot of fibre things get worse !When your intestinies are still tender and not working well, dont overload them with fibre, its irritating and often too heavy for the system to process.A smaller amount of fibre could help.
Also, fat is important to help things move more smoothly.
Hope this helps a bit !

Fiber without enough water is

Fiber without enough water is no good. Also you can try to minimize animalistic foods as they are harder to digest, meat, cheese,
Drink a minimum of 2 liters of water per day ;-)

Thank you! I have heard about

Thank you!

I have heard about too much fiber, its a tricky subject though because i dont really see many foods that are healthy and don´t contain much fiber. I spent a week in Italy, eating pasta every day (which i dont do often) and vegetables in oil (hmmm i know these are not really vegetables). Still i didn´t get more regular than with my typical food that is more full of vegs.

Anyway, i hadn´t thought about cheese, i do eat it every day. Im cutting back a little bit the greek yogurt as well and see if this helps. Thanks!

Sometimes when I know I've

Sometimes when I know I've overloaded my system I take enzymes, and periodically (especially if I'm not eating yogurt much) I take probiotics. I struggle with my digestive system working efficiently right now too. Honestly, the most effective thing for me is exercise. A half hour on the elliptical and it usually starts working. That's only if you're safe to exercise without triggering anything. If you can't work out really, then what I said before helps me. And drinking water is IMPORTANT.

Thank u Elsie! I have also

Thank u Elsie! I have also noticed its getting better now that im trying walking 30-60 minutes around the neighborhood everyday. What enzymes do you mean? are they over the counter? i have heard something about this but not much...

About the water, i used to drink lots of tea so im swtching some of my cups to just water with ginger or lemon as i heard i could be rather dehydrating... (funny all these small details that can change everything right?).

Juice is dehydrating, but I

Juice is dehydrating, but I don't think tea is. It's the sugar content that does it. Yeah, you can get them in a health store, but you want to be sure to get good ones. I use the ones my mom does--she was bulimic in her younger years also, but her stomach stopped making enough enzymes to properly digest her food. That never came back, although I think this is because of other health problems and is atypical. It's the same enzymes your stomach makes but in capsule form. I do it occasionally when I feel like it's too much for my system to handle because I don't ever want to risk dependence.

Also, maybe this is weird,

Also, maybe this is weird, but you can massage your digestive system to help it move. Gently, and in a counter clockwise fashion (as in, starting from your left side below your rib, move down and then to the right across your lower abdomen and then back up the right side). I actually find this very helpful at least for my peace of mind, especially if I'm going to bed after a late night "snack".

Dried apricots are wonderful

Dried apricots are wonderful for constipation and also soften the bowel motion so it's easier to pass. Beware of a little urgency though, as I feel when I've got to go, I have to go right away.

About 10 or 15 in the morning

About 10 or 15 in the morning for breakfast and I also snack on them during the day. It sounds a lot, but they are quite small when dried and they are a smaller volume than fresh fruit so aren't heavy on the stomach. I'll then go the next day, usually without fail, sometime twice!
