IUD birth control-need advice!!

I don't know if this is the right place to post this...

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about the Paragard IUD? It is the copper, non-hormonal 10-year kind.

I bought a Paragard IUD, and will be getting it inserted when my next period starts, which should be in about 2 weeks. I am extremely nervous because of all the negative hype all over the Internet. I have done tons of research and have found that it is the most commonly used form of birth control in most developed countries in the world (most of Europe and Asia). The more you research it, the more you realize that the U.S. has low usage simply because it's less profitable than short-term hormonal birth control...

It is extremely effective and non-hormonal. I have started taking Chaste Tree (Vitex) and will be taking cramp bark and raspberry leaf to strengthen and tone my vagina and keep my hormones normal. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it is a copper wire inserted into the cervix and, through a few functions, makes it a hostile area for sperm. It is the most effective form of birth control among the others, and is reversible. You can get pregnant immediately after removing it if you want.

I'm very nervous, because I have never had children. I know that women like me experience lots of pain initially after the insertion.

Anyone with any info?? PLEASE??!! THANKS!!

I have the non-hormonal coil. But have 2 kids. Ive had 2 fitted. It was fine to have fitted, the 2nd time was more uncomfortable but my baby was a month old & it was too soon. Removal was fine.

Good luck lovely & enjoy :) x

Follow up: Jo, I got the

Follow up:

I got the Copper IUD in May of 2012. Since then, of course I've had typical adjustment symptoms. I've never had PMS cramps, so that's probably why I still don't have them, even after getting the IUD. I did experience excessive bleeding for a while, but corrected it by taking Chinese herbs (Women's Precious Tea Pills, or Nu Ke Ba Zhen Wan), and also some hormone regulating/uterine strengthening herbs. I'm all good now. It's the greatest thing ever to have. So grateful.

Also, I've gotten along well with a new man, actually. Left the 37 (soon to be 38)-year-old last April and started seeing someone else in July. We were friends for months and worked together for a few months before we went out. He's Peruvian and GORGEOUS, dark skin, green eyes, black hair, very smart and sweet. And he's 28, a much better age (I'm 23).

Anyway, it's nice to (virtually) not have to worry about pregnancy. That's the last thing I need right now. And I most definitely do not want children.
