My gosh, Hollywood’s obsession with body image has led to so many celebs ending up battling with an eating disorder. And it’s not just in Hollywood, it spreads world wide.
Recently Pussycat Dolls Nicole Scherzinger opened up and told how she is back from a ‘dark place’ after recovering from bulimia. Nicole said she battled Bulimia for a decade while performing with the Pussycat Dolls.
See her interview here:
I wonder how many more will open up about their struggles. To name a few we have:
Christina Ricci, Crystal Renn, Geri Halliwell, Jessica Alba, Calista Flockhart, Mary-Kate Oslen, Alanis Morrisette, Ashlee Simpson, Lady Gaga, Lily Allen and the list goes on and on, maybe it would be easier to name the ones who don’t report an eating disorder.
It’s such a shame that so many celebs in the world…who millions aspire to, are deep down feeling sad and alone with their eating problems.
Like many people who suffer eating disorders, Pussycat’s Nicole told how she kept it her own private secret. To Nicole Bulimia was her addiction and a way of hurting herself. It’s such a shameful thing to have and you can see why so many people bottle it up. Nicole opened up because she really wanted to help other sufferers saying “Let’s use it for a positive”.
I think it’s really great she has opened up, I would love to see the stigma broken down about it and more awareness raised. It’s an embarrassing thing to share with others. but it is also very serious and people die from it. This is the reason why many who suffer in silence should get the proper help they need.
Here is a free PDF that can be very useful, pass it on if you think someone may need it. Telling someone you have Bulimia
I’m sure Nicole has already managed to help a lot of people by just speaking out, so good on ya
