Progressive Muscle Relaxation Audio

A quiet place and a comfy chair

This audio tool is an independant resource from e-Couch ( developed by the Australian National University. Register on eCouch to access the full relaxation module and other great tools.


Step 1 .

Download the relaxation audio attached below to an MP3 player or play it through your computer. It's quite a big file (13mb) so it may take a few minutes to download.

Step 2.

Choose a quiet place where you won't be interrupted or distracted. Sit in a comfortable chair.

Step 3.

Take a few deep breaths before you begin. Play the audio. Keep breathing regularly throughout the exercise. The focus here is on tensing and relaxing the muscles.

Tips & Advice

Note that not everybody finds relaxation helpful and some people even find that it makes them feel more anxious. If relaxation makes you feel worse, find another way to tackle your anxiety.
